Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy is a place for each person to focus on self development, self healing and connection. Your therapist will evaluate your symptoms and stressors and develop a plan of treatment that most fits your needs. We offer many modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Yoga and Internal Family Systems. Each therapist has their own set of specialties and approaches :)  We place importance on the individualized treatment of each person. 

Play Therapy

Play therapy helps children:

  • Become more responsible for behaviors and develop more successful strategies.
  • Develop new and creative solutions to problems.
  • Develop respect and acceptance of self and others.
  • Learn to experience and express emotion.
  • Cultivate empathy and respect for thoughts and feelings of others.
  • Learn new social skills and relational skills with family.
  • Develop self-efficacy and thus a better assuredness about their abilities.

PTSD

Have you experienced a traumatic event? Are you suffering from lingering fear and anxiety? Do you feel like you no longer have any control over how you think, feel, and behave?

Posttraumatic stress disorder - also known as PTSD - is a mental health challenge that may occur in individuals who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a terrorist act, an act of war, a serious accident, rape, or any other violent personal assault.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a leading edge neurobiological therapeutic tool to locate, focus, and process trauma, anxiety, depression, and emotional pain. This effective process can quickly release symptoms by processing in deep parts of the brain. Have you ever noticed yourself simply gazing or staring at some spot on the floor or wall or ceiling? Have you noticed yourself looking away or up or somewhere else when really thinking about something you are saying or want to say, particularly when the subject is loaded emotionally? As a therapist, I notice this all the time. Clients often become unnecessarily self-conscious about it and force themselves to make eye contact with me.

Somatic Experiencing

SE was developed in the 1970's by trauma expert Peter Levine. It's considered a leading edge therapy for PTSD. Somatic work involves a focus and connection with the body that helps us pay attention to the communication signals we receive. Through this work, you will create safety with your therapist, explore boundaries and learn how the nervous system holds trauma and how we can utilize this to release the body from distress. Some of the work doe through SE is not conventional and may include exploring repressed animalistic instincts, impulses and orientation responses. 

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. 

Marriage Counseling

Are you looking to enrich the experience with your new partner? Pre-marital Counseling is brief and informative. Using a Prepare/Enrich assessment, a couple will be able to identify areas of growth and challenge to be better prepared for marriage. These sessions are conducted by a couple of our therapist to include Heather Stevenson LCSW, Daniel Stubs LMHCA or Christy Baugh LMHCA. Marriage Therapy or Couples Therapy is brief, solution focused and specific with attainable therapeutic goals to help couples resolve conflicts and improve their relationships. Marriage Enrichment is for those who feel like they have a "good" marriage but feel like they want more. 

Art Therapy

According to the American Art Therapy Association, "Art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change." 

Nature Groups

Register for Nature Groups click here. As an adjuct to the healing process, MindFit is now offering themed nature groups for adults throughout the spring and summer.  

  • Every month starts a new theme. But each theme will correlate with each other.
  • Groups are for adults age 18 and older.
  • Participants can sign up for specific months or choose all.
  • Cost is $40 per week.
  • We are now beginning the registeration process.
  • Please be advised that only 10 slots per theme are available.
  • You will be notified of your admission into the group.
  • We will create a waiting list once the theme is full. If there is enough interest, a second group date/time will be established.
